Sirolo Blue Flag since 1994
2017: Sirolo won the 24th Blue Flag... No one will ever be like us!The Blue Flag is a certification by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) that a beach or marina meets its stringent standards.
The Blue Flag is a trademark owned by FEE which is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation consisting of 65 organisations in 60 member countries in Europe, Africa, Oceania, Asia, North America and South America.
FEE's Blue Flag criteria include standards for water quality, safety, environmental education and information, the provision of services and general environmental management criteria. The Blue Flag is sought for beaches and marinas as an indication of their high environmental and quality standards.
The FEE (Fondazione per l’Educazione Ambientale), on 11th May at Rome, officially gave to the city of Sirolo the honorable banner of the Blue Flag, due to the fact that Sirolo proves to have lots and rigorous parameters for an eco-sustainable managment of the territories: quality of the bathing waters, environment managment, environmental education and informations.
The mayor Misiti's satisfaction's huge: “It's been already 20 years that Sirolo and the Blue Flag create a perfect couple. No other Italian place can boast such a record! But we always have to remember that the Blue Flag isn't a miracle but the result of an ambitious and hard work of territory managment, aiming to its protection and to a sustainable development. In fact, managing a high prestige territory as Sirolo is, implies to promote a growth just through political choiches that have at the base the respect for the environment.
